Getting Started with CDSee — Your SAP S/4HANA Explorer

CDSee lets you explore over 100,000 CDS Views, Tables, and OData Services from SAP S/4HANA. Here is how to get the most out of it.

What Is CDSee?

CDSee is a free, web-based explorer for the SAP S/4HANA data model. It indexes over 100,000 CDS Views, thousands of database tables, OData services, Fiori applications, and API Hub entries — making them searchable, browsable, and visually explorable.

Key Features

Search

The search bar supports full-text search across all object types. Use the mode selector to switch between CDS Views, Tables, Services, Fiori Apps, OData APIs, and Field Search. The search also supports Ctrl+K / Cmd+K keyboard shortcuts.

CDS View Details

Every CDS View page shows:

VDM type, release state, and analytics category
Data sources (FROM/JOIN tables and views)
Complete field list with source expressions
Associations to related views
OData services that expose this view
Schema representation with syntax highlighting

Data Lineage

The Lineage tab shows a horizontal tree of upstream data sources and downstream consumers. Adjust the depth to trace further up or down the dependency chain.

3D Force Graph

An interactive 3D visualization showing the full dependency network of a CDS View or table. Nodes are color-coded by VDM type. Click any node to navigate to its detail page.

ER Diagram

Tables and CDS Views with field-level details rendered as an entity-relationship diagram. Shows primary keys, field types, and cross-references between entities.

Field Search

Search for specific field names across all CDS Views and tables. Find where a particular field (e.g., CompanyCode, SalesOrder) is used throughout the data model.

Data Sources

CDSee indexes data from three SAP system types:

RISE — SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud (RISE with SAP)
On-Premise — SAP S/4HANA On-Premise
GROW — SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud (GROW with SAP)
